It features all its original hand-painted ceramic planes and highly detailed carved detailing on the front and top fascia. In true Damachiya style - this item is a total work of art in its own right. The front panels feature lovely hand-painted Indian scenes from Hindu mythology and colourful peacock bird images.
This fanciful item of Indian furniture was probably originally a bedroom cabinet and would have originally been used to the store personal belongings of a very well-off individual.

This is an original damchiya. We estimate to be from 100 -120 years old. Its numerous imperfections, small marks and scratches are consistent with its long life. They add character and appeal to the surface patina.
