For the first time, Scaramanga will be selling some of our sample bags. These are single one-off bags that have been made as part of our product development and design process. Samples are prototype bags fabricated from our hand-sketched designs.
There may be several samples made before we get to the final 'approved' design. Generally, early samples will lead to bags that are then fabricated for release. You may recognise some of our existing bag samples. The bags that have been sampled are made by our Indian bag partner's sampleman - Laltu. This is one of the most senior roles in the workshop and is given to the most experienced and skilled bag maker. Laltu has sampled over 40 bags and 60 leather accessories for us over the last 14 years.
Our sample bags are sold as new and unused bags. Very occasionally, after sampling, we do not proceed any further. Some of the samples are for discontinued styles. They may not have our internal fabric label and no external branding.
There may be small very discreet markings on the bag that were used/remain from the design process.
