Recycled Sari Christmas Decoration - Medium
Hand-cut from recycled old sari and stitched these Christmas decorations are just what you need this season. New and exclusive to Scaramanga. Made from recycled small off-cuts of Indian sari material that are used to make the dust bags for our leather bags and accessories. Handmade by local women in the old walled city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, Western India. They are sewn by women using vintage threadle (foot operated) sewing machines at home. Our supplier Laxmi has been working with women from the local community for the last 30 years providing them with work to supplement their household income. It is very rare for women from the city to work outside their homes. We have been working with Laxmi since Scaramanga was established in 2006.
Each piece is totally unique and will usually have two types of sari sewn together to make a decoration that can be hung on a tree, strung together or just hung somewhere to give a small space a pop of colour.
Also available in Small 7.5cm and large 15cm sizes.
The stars are roughly cut and sewn together by hand. The edges will not be perfectly cut, may have loose fibres and creases. No two stars are ever the same. We will try to send the colour/pattern that's closest to the one you have requested.
